The Book I read at 3:00 a.m……..

Recently I received the book “Go for No:  YES is the Destination – NO is how you Get There” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz.  The book was from my corporate office as  the “Book of the Month” and I placed it on the “stack” of books I plan to read.  Since I read one or two books per week, I am constantly taking from and adding to the “stack”.

How timely that this book was the next in the infamous “stack”  to read when I was sleepless at  3:00 A.M.

When a message comes to me two or more times in the same 24 hours, I usually think that God has something He wants to say to me!  Just yesterday, I had read Rebekah Radice’s blog, where she made the comment that “… thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve is the fear of failure”.   I recently met Rebekah at a mastermind event in Chicago and she is one incredible lady and although we were both featured in Karen’s Deis new book “Reinventing the Heel”, it was our first time to personally meet.

“Go for No” is a quick read – less than an hour – and a book you won’t put down once you start.  And the message of the book is is the same message I received yesterday from Rebekah’s blog.  You must feel the fear and DO IT ANYWAY!  Failure is not something I embrace or enjoy but for most of us it IS inevitable, at least in some part of our lives at some time in our lives.  Maybe we are a raving success in business and a flop with our family – or vice-versa.

Some of you know this – some of you don’t.  I have been writing several books for over 20 years.  Yes, several books and yes, 20 years!  Thousands of words have been captured in notebooks on dozens of subjects.  But what has held me back from completion of any of the projects?  FEAR OF REJECTION!

Just recently, I made the commitment to MYSELF that I would finish at least ONE of these books this year.  I set a deadline to have the book completed, plugged in the discipline of writing every day, contracted for the cover of the book, scheduled interviews which will be included in the book, and DAILY I have been pushing forward to finsh.  But it has not been easy!  The fear is always there.   Writing makes me feel…..vulnerable, exposed and well …..fearful!

The blog and the book were timely and affirmation that I am headed in the right direction.  Fail or succeed – the book will be written!  I have decided to embrace my fears and DO IT ANYWAY.  Because I know that as I am building the “Seven Pillars of Success” for my life -the Pillar of Purpose includes writing the book.

What about you?  What is the rejection you fear?  What success has eluded you because of your fear of rejection? I would love to hear from you!

The fear of rejection is an incredibly powerful deterrent from doing those things that we’re so passionate about.

I subscribe to the belief that if there’s something I want to do but find it makes me uncomfortable or creates fear, then I absolutely must do it. It’s always those things that scare us the most that force us to spread our wings and fly in directions we never could have imagined.

You are such an inspiration Louise for facing your fear, just DOING IT and succeeding tremendously!
